The cardiovascular disease is the most important cause of death in the world for both gender.
Research on women's heart health is exploding. In the USA 1:2 wome dies of heart disease or stroke, while 1: 30 dies of breast cancer. It occurs because the woman forget about heart disease thinking it is only a man problem. For once a woman reaches menopause her risk jump dramatically. Women tend to be older and sicker when they have heart attack so 38% of women will die within one year after the event and about 46% became disabled with heart failure within 6 years.
Risk factors are condition or habits that make a person more likely to develop a disease. Some risks we can do something about like: cigarette smoking, high blood pre ure, high blood cholesterol, overweight, physical inactivity and diabetes. Others we can't control like the age, the gender, the heredity and the race.
We can estimate our risk to find our chances of having a heart attack in the next 10 years, given as a percentage by our site www.checkup.med.br. It is an adaptation of the Framinghan Heart Study.
We studied by the same protocol 11.422 busine man : 68% were men with mean age of 42 years old. The estimate risk were 35,44%, very high because with some control it could decrease to 4,54%.
It's very important to know about our cardiac risk to take some action as soon as po ible.
